Die Cellistin ist in einer Musikerfamilie aufgewachsen und begann bereits im Alter von drei Jahren mit dem Cellospiel. Nach Abschluss der Matura begann sie ein Cellostudium in der Klasse von Professor Thomas Demenga an der Musik-Akademie Basel.

Zurzeit absolviert sie ein Masterstudium in Cello in der Klasse von Christoph Richter an der Royal Academy of Music in London.
Spezielle Stückwünsche und Ideen für die musikalische Umrahmung des Anlasses werden jederzeit gerne entgegengenommen.

Biografia

Julia Magdalena Sterki was born and raised in a family of musicians in Switzerland. After starting to play the cello at the age of three, she developed an early passion for the instrument and regularly performed with her family as a child. She finished her bilingual high school diploma with a major in Latin and continued her cello studies with Professor Thomas Demenga at the Music Academy Basel. Parallel to that, she undertook an undergraduate degree in economics and completed her master's

degree in management at the University of St Gallen while pursuing a performance master's with Professor Christoph Richter at the Royal Academy of Music. In 2023, she started her doctorate at the University of Zurich, focusing on cross-disciplinary research and the links between leadership principles and the art of conducting.

Julia is very passionate about the combination of vocal and cello music. She recently performed Jürg Wyttenbach's "Seven poems for a reciting cellist" and is involved in a project showcasing works of female baroque composers in London. She enjoys playing jazz and mixed chamber music and has played with the Sainsbury Royal Academy Soloists, the Royal Academy Opera, the HSG Alumni Symphony Orchestra, and at the Bloomsbury Festival in England. Besides music, Julia enjoys writing and has worked as a journalist for Swiss National Television (SRF). She has a son and lives with her family alternately in London, Turin and Switzerland.
